The Senate approved a House-passed continuing resolution to fund the government through February 18, 2022, thus avoiding a shutdown ahead of a December 3 deadline. An amendment to the measure proposed by Senators Mike Lee (R-UT) and Roger Marshall (R-KS) to remove funding for COVID-19 vaccine mandates was rejected by a 48-50 margin. Members earlier in the day confirmed Brian Nelson’s nomination for treasury undersecretary for terrorism and financial crimes; voted 50-47 to discharge from committee Rachael Rollins nomination to be a U.S. attorney for the District of Massachusetts; and continued work on the fiscal year 2022 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). close
