Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) said American politics has become “bitter, tribal partisanship.” She said the political divisions have fueled efforts in some states to make it more difficult to vote, and she said those state laws “have no place in a nation whose government is formed by free, fair, and open elections.” She said she supports the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and the Freedom to Vote Act, but she does not support eliminating the filibuster with a partisan vote.
