Airport and law enforcement officials testified at a a House Homeland Security subcommittee hearing on the growing number of firearms detected at Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints. Witnesses said that most of these cases are inadvertent but that they put strain on law enforcement resources and cause delays at TSA checkpoints. They called for more signage at airports reminding passengers of the gun laws already in place and an increase in civil penalties for violators. close
