“I am here today not to start a war but to prevent one,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken forcefully said as he addressed the U.N. Security Council concerning Russia’s continued military buildup along the Ukrainian border for a potential invasion. Secretary Blinken stressed Russia’s actions do not show a drawdown or an attempt at deescalating tensions. Representatives from other countries relayed similar comments and concerns. Russia was serving as president of the U.N. Security Council and called the meeting to discuss the 2015 Minsk II agreement which sought to end the fighting between Russia and Ukraine in the Donbas region of Ukraine. close
