Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, spoke about his meeting with Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson during a news conference. Senator Durbin touted her “extraordinary” credentials to be the next justice. He also spoke about the timeline for the confirmation hearing, which is set to begin March 21 and expected to last four days. He said he’s not opposed to opening up the hearing to the public, but the decision has yet to be made due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Meetings with senators is a customary practice for all nominees. close
