A House Judiciary subcommittee held a hearing on rising crime and public safety proposals. During the first panel, U.S. Attorney Nicholas Brown talked about the rise in gun violence and the increase in people carrying firearms, both legal and stolen. He also discussed the importance of law enforcement engaging with the communities they police, re-allocating resources for law enforcement, and collaborative partnerships for safer communities. The second panel discussed gun violence, funding for police and community violence intervention programs, bail reform legislation, and justice for families of crime victims. close
