The House Financial Services Committee held a hearing to examine the home appraisal process and the potential for bias against minorities. Experts familiar with the process and the industry testified on topics varying from diversity in the industry to recruitment and retention and qualifications versus experiences to become an appraiser. Lawmakers also pressed witnesses on President Biden’s initiative, the Interagency Task Force on Property Appraisal and Valuation Equity (PAVE), to address bias in home appraisals. close
