Health and Human Services Department Fiscal Year 2023 Budget Request

Secretary Becerra said the Biden administration is committed to working with Congress and health providers, when the time is right, on preparations to phase out the public health emergency from the COVID-19 pandemic. He stressed that health providers would get at least a 60-day notice when the federal government transitions out of the emergency. He said that while the nation is in a good spot with the pandemic, he urged Congress to act on additional COVID-19 aid so that the U.S. can continue making progress in combating the virus. Other topics included maternal and infant mortality, mental health care access, prescription drug prices, and Medicare solvency.
