Mexican Presidential Candidate Nomination In his address to the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD) convention, Mr. Cardenas accepted the nomination by his party to be the party’s presidential candidates. The election will be held on August 21, 1994. Mr. Cardenas will run against candidates from the two other major parties: the current ruling party, the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), and the National Action Party (PAN). A masked figure known as Super Barrio (SB), the symbol of the Mexican social-urban network of neighborhoods (Asamblea de Barrios), was present in the crowd to display that organization’s support of Cardenas. close
