The Senate Budget Committee held a hearing on whether federal taxpayer dollars should go to companies that violate labor laws and prevent workers from unioning,. Amazon’s labor practices was a focus. Christian Smalls, Amazon’s labor union president testified, telling the committee that “it’s not a left or right thing. It’s not a Democrat or Republican thing. It’s a worker’s thing. It’s a worker’s issue.” Others witnesses included labor leaders, organizers, and policy professionals.
