During a White House press briefing, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan announced that the prime minister of Sweden and the president of Finland would meet with President Biden at the White House to discuss plans for the two countries to join the NATO. Mr. Sullivan also previewed the president’s upcoming trip to Northeast Asia, where he planned to bolster alliances with South Korea, Japan, and other Indo-Pacific allies. The president’s trip came amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, North Korean nuclear and missile tests, and the tensions these issues present between China and the United States. close
