White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre defended President Biden’s executive actions to address gun violence, but she stressed he cannot do it alone and urged Congress to act in the wake of 19 children and two teachers killed by a gunman at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. The deadly shooting and the potential for gun control dominated reporters' questions at the daily briefing. President Biden and first lady Jill Biden were scheduled to visit with victims' families and the community during the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.
