Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) received the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award along with other recipients. The award is bestowed on those who exemplify courage in protecting and defending democracy. Rep. Cheney lost her Republican leadership position for her stance on the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol and for calling out President Trump for his claims that the 2020 presidential election was rigged. Rep. Cheney is vice chair of the January 6 Committee that is tasked with investigating the events that led to the attack on the Capitol. Other award recipients included a former Georgia election worker, Michigan’s secretary of state, Arizona’s Republican house speaker, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. close
