Representatives Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and John Boehner (R-OH) discussed a “Lincoln-Douglas” style debate forum they are attempting to establish on the floor of the House using special orders. The two congressmen engaged in a debate in an effort to put forth visions for Americans which showcased progressive and conservative ideas. The first debate covered healthcare and the healthcare system and took place on the floor of the House as part of the special orders period after the completion of the days business. close
