One day after saying he supported filibuster rule changes to specifically codify Roe v. Wade, President Biden acknowledged that Democrats do not have the votes to change Senate rules. The president’s comments came as he met virtually with a group of Democratic governors to discuss abortion rights following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, in which the Court ruled that the Constitution protects women’s right to an abortion. President Biden said that this is an issue that Congress must act on, but in order to do that the people must elect Democrats. close
