Educator and civil rights activist Mary McLeod Bethune was remembered at a symposium looking at her life and legacy. On July 13, 2022, the U.S. Congress dedicated a statue of her as part of the National Statuary Hall Collection. She is the first African American to be represented there. The U.S. Capitol Historical Society hosted this event. close
