Further, Ms. Power announced “a surge of nearly $1.2 billion in funding that will be dispatched to meet the immediate needs faced by the people of Somalia, Kenya, and Ethiopia.” She also laid out several of the driving factors contributing to the global food crisis, including the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which had impacted food and energy prices around the world.
