She also pointed to Russia President Putin’s invasion of Ukraine “and his ongoing, devastating use of food as a weapon of war.” David Beasley, the executive director for the World Food Program, also testified, expressing concern that the world may experience a food availability crisis in the coming year if the current food security crisis cannot be mitigated.
