Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Susan Collins (R-ME) outlined proposed changes to the Electoral Count Act before the Senate Rules and Administration Committee. The senators explained the adjustments the Electoral Count Reform Act could make to the process of ratifying the results of future presidential elections. In the witness panel, a bipartisan group of election law experts agreed on the need to update the law, which was written in 1887, to prevent a repeat of the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. close
