Following their weekly caucus luncheon, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and other members of Senate Republican leadership spoke with reporters. Leader McConnell praised the operation that killed al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri but criticized the Biden administration’s handling of Afghanistan after the U.S. military withdrawal from that country in 2021. The Republican leader along with Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO) complimented Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) decision to stop in Taiwan during a trip to Asia to promote democracy. The Republican senators also discussed gas prices and inflation. close
