He stressed that readiness is the Navy’s first priority, especially in regard to China’s growing military powers. Admiral Gilday said, in order to effectively counter China, the U.S needs to invest in hypersonics, laser technology, and a hybrid fleet of manned and unmanned vessels. He also discussed Navy recruitment efforts through social media and the AUKUS alliance, which is a security pact between Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
