The White House Monkeypox Response Team held a news conference to provide updates on the response effort. The coordinator of the team, Robert Fenton, reported there would soon be enough JYNNEOS vaccine to provide full vaccination (two doses) to the at-risk population. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky shared recent data based on 19 jurisdictions, which indicated the vast majority of recipients had taken the first dose but not the second dose. Moreover, the data also revealed 47 percent of recipients were white, 22 percent Hispanic, and 10 percent Black. Finally, the monkeypox team expressed cautious optimism due to the declining rate of cases across the country. close
