President Biden and first lady Jill Biden hosted the unveiling of the official White House portraits of former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama. Former President Obama paid tribute to President Biden, saying, “Joe, it is now America’s good fortune to have you as president.” He also paid tribute to those he worked with while in the White House. Former first lady Michelle also spoke, saying that “a portrait of a biracial kid with an unusual name and the daughter of a water-pump operator and a stay-at-home,” had been honored with official White House portraits, remarking it was a reminder that “there is a place for everyone in this country.” President Biden and first lady Jill also gave remarks. The president commented on his friendship with former President Obama and what they were able to accomplish during the latter’s administration. close
