Ambassador Myles Frechette and John Cavanagh, co-director of the Global Economy Project at the Institute for Policy Studies, discussed the impact passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) would have on United States foreign policy. Amb. Frechette believed that passage of the agreement would help the U.S. foreign policy by strengthening the role of the U.S. in foreign affairs, while Mr. Cavanaugh believed it would harm U.S. foreign policy by weakening America’s domestic economy. C-SPAN’s Ed Maddox moderated the conversation which included video clips and calls from C-SPAN viewers. close
