The House passed three bills. One would protect federal employees by preventing any position in the federal competitive service from being reclassified without the consent of Congress. The second measure makes changes to U.S. Census Bureau operations, including limiting the president may fire the director to just cause of inefficiency, neglect of duty, or malfeasance in office. The third provides additional protections for whistleblowers. Each bill would next go to the Senate. close
