Richard Cline, the Federal Protective Service (FPS) principal deputy director, during a House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Oversight and Accountability hearing said the agency and its officers stand ready to protect federal buildings, employees, and visitors 24 hours a day despite troubles implementing security recommendations and funding challenges. The Federal Protective Service (FPS) gets its funding through fees charged to federal departments and agencies using the FPS for security and order, and does not receive congressional appropriation. Other topics included preventing attacks, information sharing with other law enforcement agencies, and workforce shortages. Officials from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) and Government Accountability Office (GAO) also testified. close
