Economists and academics testified at a House Oversight and Reform Subcommittee on Economic and Consumer Policy hearing on the role certain industries and corporations have had in driving inflation. Democratic members and most of the witnesses contended that some corporations were contributing to inflation by overcharging for goods and services. Republican members and one of the witnesses, however, blamed the Biden administration and Democratic policies, such as the American Rescue Plan, for inflationary prices. close
