Members of NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) mission team briefed the press after successfully crashing a small, unmanned spacecraft into the asteroid Dimorphos. The intent was to redirect the asteroid’s trajectory. Though it will take a few months to have a full qualitative understanding of the results of the mission, the team members expressed joy for the success of the first part of this mission. close
