Federal Emergency Management Agency, National Weather Service, Coast Guard, Army Corps of Engineers, and Health and Human Services officials in Washington, D.C., held a briefing on the federal government’s response to Hurricane Ian after it caused devastating damage across Florida causing devastating damage and then regaining strength as it moved toward South Carolina. National Weather Service Director Ken Graham said the storm was gaining speed as it moved up the East Coast and cautioned the residents of South Carolina to beware of storm surges. FEMA Assistant Administrator Anne Bink advised people to heed the advice and warnings of local emergency officials and said all the hurricane-related hazards they had seen in Florida were being seen along the East Coast. close
