“I want the Kyiv regime and their sponsors from the West to hear me, to heed me,” said Russian President Vladimir Putin as he claimed the people of Ukraine’s Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions “now they become our citizens, forever.” His remarks came during an address at the Kremlin on the annexation of Russia-controlled regions of Ukraine. He also called for “the Kyiv regime to cease fire,” and that this is the “only way to reach a peaceful resolution.” In response to Putin’s actions, in what many view as a violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and international law, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he was officially submitting his country’s membership application for NATO. close
