“Our economy has failed to live up to the nation’s promise of equal opportunity for all,” said Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, “and that is why we have put racial equity at the forefront of our agenda at Treasury and across the Biden administration.” Her remarks came as she and White House Council of Economic Advisers Chair Cecilia Rouse joined Washington Post associate editor Jonathan Capehart at the Treasury Department’s annual Freedman’s Bank Forum focused on economic opportunity for minority and low-income communities. Topics included economic recovery from the COVID019 pandemic, cryptocurrency regulation, affordable housing, and the strength of public and private partnerships. close
