White House COVID-19 Response Coordinator Dr. Ashish Jha said that “If you are up to date with your vaccines and if you get treated, if you have a breakthrough infection, your risk of dying from COVID is now close to zero.” His remarks came during the White House briefing with Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre as he updated the press on the federal response to the pandemic. When asked about the reported low numbers of those getting the newest COVID-19 booster, he said he expects more people to get boosted further into autumn. As the briefing began, the press secretary shared her “coming out” story to mark National Coming Out Day. She answered questions on several topics including on continued support for Ukraine, inflation reduction, and energy prices and Saudi Arabia. close
