“I’m a fighter, not a quitter,” said British Prime Minister Liz Truss as she faced calls to resign during Prime Minister’s Questions in the House of Commons. Those calls to resign came as the prime minister faced scrutiny for her handling of the economy during her short time in office with inflation reaching a 40-year high and rising mortgage rates. Later in the day, the prime minister’s home secretary resigned. As Labour Party Leader Keir Starmer began his questioning of the prime minister, he mocked reports of a book being written on Ms. Truss' time in office, asking, “Apparently it’s going to be out by Christmas. Is that the release date, or the title?” Other topics covered included fracking, pensions, the war in Ukraine, and high energy costs. close
