Attorney General Merrick Garland announced three new criminal cases against China, two of them involving Chinese intelligence officers. The first involved two Chinese intelligence officers accused of bribing a U.S. government employee working as a double agent with the FBI for legal documents related to a federal criminal investigation into a global telecommunications company. While the attorney general did not name the company during the news conference, several media outlets reported the company is Huawei. The other cases involve a campaign to recruit Americans to act as agents for China, and lastly, a case concerning a group of Chinese nationals who allegedly harassed a U.S. resident to repatriate back to China. close
