Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito publicly addressed the leaked draft opinion he authored that Roe v. Wade, which stablished women’s legal abortion rights, and defended the Court’s legitimacy. The justice called the leak a “shock” and “grave betrayal of trust by somebody” that made some of the justices “targets for assassination.” His comments came during a Heritage Foundation discussion on his life, legal career, and constitutional law . The leak and overturning of Roe sparked nationwide protests, including at several of the justices' homes. close
