The Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, a partnership between the Urban Institute and the Brookings Institution, hosted a virtual symposium on investments in the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The first discussion welcomed former IRS Commissioners Fred Goldberg, John Koskinen, and Charles Rossotti. They talked about previous challenges and offered advice on how best to invest additional resources allocated by Congress to improve IRS operations. The second conversation featured several high-level government officials, including National Taxpayer Advocate Erin Collins, who provided insight as to how additional resources will be invested, including modernization efforts, workforce development, and improved customer service. close
