Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and other Democratic leaders spoke to reporters in the Capitol following their weekly caucus luncheon one week after Democrats retained control of the upper chamber following the 2022 midterm elections. While reflecting on accomplishments, party leaders discussed their intent to pass a Respect for Marriage Act that would protect same-sex marriage. Majority Leader Schumer also commented on Senator Rick Scott’s (R-FL) move to challenge Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for his leadership post. close
