House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) spoke at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s 2022 leadership meeting in Las Vegas. He said that when he becomes the House speaker in the 118th Congress, he would remove Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) from the House Foreign Affairs Committee for alleged antisemitism, hold a hearing at the U.S. southern border amid the fentanyl crisis, and use subpoena powers. He did not -elaborate how he intended to use subpoena powers. He also outlined the Republican policy agenda, including cutting government spending and energy-independence, and he praised the amount of Republicans of color elected in the 2022 midterm elections. close
