Following their election for leadership in the 118th Congress Senate Republican leaders spoke to reporters about the results and what it means for the party in the 118th Congress. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was selected to continue as minority leader, defeating Senator Rick Scott’s (R-FL) challenge. The other leaders chosen are Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), conference vice chair; Senator Steve Daines (R-MT), National Republican Senatorial Committee chair; and Senator Joni Enrst (R-IA), Republican policy chair. Senator John Thune (R-SD) will remain the whip and Senator John Barrasso stays conference chair. close
