House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) spoke to reporters outside the White House after a meeting with President Biden and congressional Republican leaders about final priorities for the 117th Congress. They said a bill will be brought to the House floor the next morning in order to prevent a railroad strike. Speaker Pelosi also mentioned the previous day death of the late Rep. Donald McEachin (D-VA). The two leaders also talked about a bill to codify marriage equality, which the Senate was expected to vote on final passage later in the day, as well as funding the government. close
