“How did his colleague Baroness Mone end up with nearly £30 million of taxpayers' money in her bank account?” asked Labour Party leader Keir Starmer to British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during the House of Commons' weekly questions in London. The question was in reference to allegations House of Lords member Michelle Mone secretly profited from personal protective equipment (PPE) contracts during the COVID-19 pandemic. Prime Minister Sunak replied he “was absolutely shocked to read about the allegations,” and further said, “It’s absolutely right that she is no longer attending the House of Lords and therefore no longer has the Conservative whip,” amid news that Ms. Mone took a leave of absence from the upper chamber of Parliament. The prime minister also took questions on a range of domestic and international issues. close
