The Senate convened to discuss the Brady Bill, which included enacting a five-day waiting period for handgun purchases. The House of Representatives approved the Senate/House conference report on the previous night. Some Republicans objected to the waiting period being phased out in five years - they want it phased out in four years.

After the morning prayer, a “quorum call” was instituted and remained in effect until the Senate ajourned subject to the call of the chair. close
