“Congress has got a lot of people who are trying to help, trying to get the right thing done,” said Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) on what he wishes the American public knew about Congress. The senator, who was retiring after 12 years in the Senate, spoke with C-SPAN to reflect on his life and career in politics. He touched on several legislative achievements, working in past administrations, and his love for the outdoors. Senator Portman also addressed the importance of bipartisanship and said working in Congress “is a job that takes an awful lot of time if done right.” close
