The House Ways and Means Committee returned from a closed session to vote on whether to release to the public redacted tax filing information former President Donald Trump between the years of 2015 and 2020. The committee had only recently received the documents following a three-year legal fight that ended with the Supreme Court deciding in November 2023 that Congress had the right to review the material. The committee said it was seeking the returns as part of an investigation into IRS audit practices of presidents and vice presidents. In this portion of the meeting, committee members approved the motion, with all 24 Democrats voting in favor and all 16 Republicans voting against it. close
