Senators were unable to move forward with final passage of the bill because of a disagreement over Senator Mike Lee’s (R-UT) proposed amendment that deals with Title 42 asylum rules put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic. The legislation also still must pass the House before the end of the day on December 23 to avoid a government shutdown.
