The Supreme Court heard arguments from three attorneys in Gonzalez v. Google, a case challenging the Communications Decency Act’s Section 230, which protects tech companies against liability for third-party content on their platforms. The family of an American student killed in a 2015 ISIS attack in Paris filed the suit. They argued YouTube, which Google owns, aided and abetted the terror attack by allowing and recommending through an algorithm ISIS content to users. Google’s legal team got the case dismissed in the lower federal courts claiming Section 230 protection. close
