Wes Moore was sworn in as Maryland’s first Black governor at the State Capitol in Annapolis. After Mr. Moore took the oath, the army veteran delivered the inaugural address. He was introduced by Oprah Winfrey. During his remarks, he talked about the state’s economy and the disproportionate incarceration of Black men. Prior to the governor’s remarks, Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller was sworn in and delivered remarks. She was the state’s first Indian-American in that post. close
