New member Rep. Glenn Ivey (D-MD) spoke to C-SPAN about his time as a former Capitol Hill staffer, why he ran for Congress, and his political mentors. Early in his career, Rep. Ivey worked as a legislative aid to the late Rep. John Conyers (D-MI, 1965-2017) before becoming an assistant U.S. attorney. He later returned to Capitol Hill, first as counsel to the late Sen. Paul Sarbanes (D-MD, 1977-2007) and then as chief counsel to former Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle (SD, 1987-2005). close
