New member Rep. Nikki Budzinski (D-IL) spoke to C-SPAN about her former career as a union labor leader and how her mother instilled the importance of community engagement. Rep. Budzinski, who was the former chief of staff for the Office of Management and Budget (2021), touched on her time as a Capitol Hill intern. She interned for both former House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt (D-MO) and the late Sen. Paul Simon (D-IL), whom she referred to as her “North Star” in public service. close
