House lawmakers debated a measure that would end the COVID-19 national public health emergency declared by the Health and Human Services Department in January 2020. If the bill, which would next go the Senate, is signed into law by President Biden, it would mean an end to government provided COVID-19 tests, treatments, and vaccines. The Biden administration announced that it plans to extend the emergency declaration until May 11, 2023. close
